General and customized tolerances
Adaptation according to needs
For each aluminum profile, general tolerances are defined and specified in the drawing header. If necessary, additional special tolerances can be specified directly at the relevant dimensions or in the form of an additional text on the profile drawing. These special tolerances always take precedence over the general tolerances.
Commonly used standards
For aluminium profiles the following standardized tolerances are usually used:
- SS EN 755-9 – Used for standard profiles, profiles with normal tolerance requirements and profiles in high-strength alloys.
- SS EN 12020-2 – Used for profiles with high tolerance requirements that are not manufactured in high strength alloys.
- SS-ISO 2768-1 – Used in the machining of aluminum profiles into parts.
These standards ensure that the profiles meet the precision and fit requirements needed for different applications.
Ordering tolerance standards
For copyright reasons, we cannot publish detailed tolerances here. The exact tolerances can be ordered through the respective country’s standardization body. In Sweden, these are available through “SIS – Standardization Commission in Sweden”.
Executive summary
Tolerances are a critical factor in the production of aluminum extrusions and contribute to high quality and functionality. Establishing relevant general and special tolerances ensures that profiles meet customer requirements. Standardized tolerances according to SS EN and SS-ISO make it possible to create profiles with high precision, regardless of the application.
