Profile design

Cross-sectional features in aluminum construction

One of the main advantages of aluminum profiles is the possibility to influence the design of the cross-section. This is one of the most crucial differences between designing in aluminum and designing in steel.

Differences between aluminum and steel construction

In steel structures, the designer builds up his design by adding components such as locks, hinges and other functional details. These are often joined together by welding, bolting or riveting, which can involve time-consuming machining processes.

Integrated solutions with aluminum

Aluminum construction, on the other hand, offers a more integrated solution. By planning functional details already at the design stage of the cross-section, the need for subsequent processing, such as welding and bolting, can be minimized. The design can thus be optimized to include joints and fasteners directly in the cross-section, resulting in a more efficient and cost-saving manufacturing process.

Optimization and innovation

The flexibility offered by aluminum extrusions gives designers unique opportunities to influence the final result. By cleverly exploiting the material’s freedom of form, innovative and functional solutions can be created that simplify production and improve structural performance.
