The Distance Scale is placed next to the profile.
The viewing distance is determined by the table “Evaluation of error type”. For example, if you have a rub mark on a surface marked as surface 3, you reverse until you cannot read the top line but can still read the bottom line at B3 on the Distance scale. The profile surface is then viewed for 5 seconds. If you cannot detect the deviation, the surface is approved.
OTHER
If there are other, customer-specific requirements for the appearance of the surface, this must be controlled via equals or equivalent. This may, for example, apply to brushed surfaces.
| Class | Definition of | Production of | Useful alloys | Viewing distance and time |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Scratches, rub marks or other physical damage must not be visible during inspection according to B1 – 5 sec. | Individual handling at all stages. Only small part of profile may be classified as surface 1. Exit surface must have lower surface requirements. Visible surfaces are protected during packing. Dielines are not accepted. | AND AW-6060 AND AW-6063 AND AW-6101 | B1 – 5 sec. |

| 3 | Scratches, rub marks or other physical damage shall not be visible during inspection according to B3 – 5 sec. | If production so requires, visible surfaces can be added together.
