Anodizing is an economical and environmentally friendly method that produces very durable results. So what are the practical benefits of surface treatment? The answer is simple – an eye-catching color and customized surface properties make your products unique and increase their value. With anodizing, it is easy to tailor the aluminium component to suit your specific requirements.
Why not use a color that matches your company profile or your finished product? Visible details can be color matched to their surroundings, built-in details can be more easily located using a color. Exterior building profiles can be given an attractive and durable finish that resists the elements. If static electricity is a problem, we can make the surface electrically conductive. If the surface needs to be EMC shielded, we also have processes that can handle that. Common to all areas of application is that the right surface strengthens your profile, your products and thus your position on the market.
Anodizing provides very strong protection against wear and corrosion, as well as the possibility of coloring the aluminum metal. Normally, anodizing makes the surface layer electrically insulating, but we also offer the possibility to create electrically conductive surfaces.
An environmentally friendly choice
The anodizing process starts with fixing the aluminium parts so that they become electrically conductive. They are then thoroughly cleaned in a number of different baths. After cleaning, the parts are immersed in a bath of acid at a temperature of 20°C. There we pass direct current through the material, which strengthens the surface layer up to 3,000 times. The thickness is directly derived from the bath time and current strength. In connection with anodizing, the metal can be dyed in a myriad of color options. Anodizing is an environmentally sound surface treatment method. For alutin, the environmental benefits are particularly significant, as the main competing alternative, chromating, has a significantly higher environmental impact. Anodized aluminium has the same high recyclability as untreated aluminium and does not require separate sorting.
Advantages of anodizing:
- Protects against corrosion and wear
- Provides decorative surfaces
- Maintains new look
- Meets high hygiene requirements
- Good substrate for gluing, printing and varnishing.
