Anodisation

At ProfilGruppen anodisation is the most common method of surface treatment. Anodisation is an electrochemical method of surface conversion.

Anodisation is an economical and environmentally-friendly method that produces long-lasting results. What benefits are you likely to get from surface treatment? The answer is simple – an eye-catching colour and customised surface properties that make your products unique and increase their value. With anodisation it is easy to tailor-make aluminium components that exactly match your requirements.

Why not use a colour that complements your company profile or your finished product? Visible parts can be colour-matched to their surroundings, while integral parts can be located more easily simply by using colours. Exterior building extrusions can be given an attractive and durable surface that is resistant to wind and bad weather. If static electricity is a problem, we can make the surface conductive. We also have processes for producing EMC-shielded surfaces. Common to all areas of application is the fact that the right surface strengthens your profile, your products and, thus, your company’s position on the market.

Anodizing provides very strong protection against wear and corrosion and the ability to color the aluminum metal. Normally, the anodization makes the surface layer electrically insulating, but we also offer the possibility of creating electrically conductive surfaces.

AN ENVIROMENTALLY FRIENDLY CHOICE
The anodization process starts with that the aluminium parts are jigged and then pass through a rigorous multi-bath cleaning process. After cleaning, they are immersed in a bath of sulphuric acid at a temperature of 20°C and a DC current is passed through the material, which improves the surface layer strength by up to 3,000 times. The thickness of the anodised layer is directly determined by the immersion time and current. Finally, the aluminium parts are rinsed in a bath of deionised water in order to create a surface that is entirely free of pores. In connection with the anodization, the extrusions can be colored in a myriad of color options. Anodizing is an environmentally sound surface treatment method. For alutin, the environmental gains are particularly noticeable as the competing main alternative of chromatography gives a significantly higher environmental impact. Anodized aluminum has the same high recyclability as untreated and requires no separate sorting.
